March in Sable Cove is the month nobody puts on a leaflet. It is also the month Posy died, which is the real reason Nora Ashby said yes to a job she had no business taking: cataloging a century of keeper's effects out at the old Sable Point light, for a restoration the town is still ashamed it needs.

Then the storm arrives eight hours early, the causeway goes under, and nine people are shut on a headland with no road, no boat, and no way to call out.

By first light the preservation architect is dead in the cottage strongroom. The door was bolted on the inside. The window has been screwed shut since before the light went automatic.

There is one door, one window, and eight people on a rock.
